We’ve covered a lot of ground in the articles as part of this series – and we’re aware there’s plenty more that could be said. But if you were to force our hand, what do we prioritise as the key takeaways for transforming compliance-based learning and driving the changes you need to see? Here are our seven steps to success.

We recommend that you:

  1. Get under the skin of your audience, putting them front and centre, using methodologies like design thinking, human-centred design and learning experience design.

  2. Map out your future vision – where do you want to be? What is stopping you from getting there? What is your roadmap to success?

  3. Build in the needs and wants of all your stakeholders and design for the problems that are shared​.

  4. Test and learn – don’t set it and forget it. Continually evaluate your initiatives and don’t be afraid to pivot and start again if you need to. Innovate and adapt as you go along.

  5. Leverage design patterns and solid UX principles to create efficient, consistent learning experiences.

  6. Think of data as your new best friend. It will give you the evidence you need to sell your ideas into the business and assurance that you’re making the right decisions.

  7. Envisage your ambition to change your compliance learning as a journey. Some of the bigger changes you want to see can be a point of destination. Don’t feel so overwhelmed by everything you want to do that you end up doing nothing. Even small changes can make a big difference.
